And the winner is... Malynda Raker!

Congratulations to Malynda, a Junior Fashion Merchandising major at Kent State University, on winning OTBT's first-ever Design Competition!

Raker submitted her original design of the shoe upper, the top portion of the shoe, inspired by the need of every woman for a comfort shoe with an adjustable fit. Raker’s comfort-driven upper design compliments the base of the shoe, OTBT’s fan favorite footbed construction, contoured for fit and popular for its all-day comfort.

"The inspiration behind my design was the desire to design a shoe that is accessible for every woman. My design has a Velcro closure on every strap, making it fully adjustable. This makes this shoe comfortable for every woman,” said Raker.

“This desire for comfort as well as fashion fits perfectly with OTBT's mission of making comfortable shoes for the adventurous woman. These are a perfect shoe for the mom who has to run after her child, as well as a college student (like myself) who has to walk to every destination, and anywhere in between.

As the competition winner, Raker received a $500 cash prize and the opportunity to collaborate with OTBT brand designers on her unique shoe for inclusion in the Spring Summer 2018 OTBT line.

"Design can be art with great aesthetic, but great design is often simple or practical and that’s what makes it complicated,” said Todd Partridge, Consolidated Shoe Company’s chief design officer. “Malynda’s design is a good example of meeting those challenges.”

Congratulations Malynda!
